Rockville Fencing Academy's Camp Beginning Program is a great way to get started with fencing. No experience or equipment is required. Our Beginning Camps offer 15 hours of foil fencing in one week. The camps teach the basics of fencing: focusing on the mental, physical & strategic aspects of the sport, while providing a good aerobic workout. By the end of the week, students will be able to fence, referee bouts, and have enough skill to participate in intermediate level fencng.
The program includes use of a foil, mask and fencing jacket. You will need a glove for the hand that holds the foil. Any thin glove that covers the entire hand is fine, e.g., gardening glove, batting glove, golf glove. RFA sells fencing-specific gloves.
Proper dress for fencing is a t-shirt, athletic pants (no jeans or outdoor pants with cargo pockets, or shorts), and sneakers with non-marking soles.
Rockville Fencing Academy's Intermediate & Competitive Camp Program is a great way to take your fencing to the next level. The camps entail15 hours of foil fencing in one week and focus on improving the integration of blade work and footwork. The Competitive Camp will also focus on the strategic set up for the moves, and video review of the fencers bouting.
